Stay Safe at Home

Central Plains Area Agency on Aging urges adults 60+ to reduce exposure to Coronavirus by social distancing.

  • Stay at home as much as possible

    • Your home is a controlled environment, your exposure is greatly reduced if you remain in that environment 

    • Clean surfaces regularly with recommended products

    • Wash towels and dishcloths regularly

  • Plan now for what you will do if you or those you rely on for support, become ill

    • 2 weeks of food

    • 2 weeks of medication

    • contacts for back-up support if needed

  • Social distancing does not have to mean social isolation. Stay connected with your friends by phone or video, walk outdoors while maintaining distance. Check out some ideas below.

  • Take a short walk near your home, maintaining 6 feet from others or walk with a video

  • Create an in-home exercise routine (with physician’s permission)

  • Use Youtube for stress relieving free yoga or meditation videos

  • Catch up on reading or listening to books using free options like your local library (may be registering ebooks now over the phone) or Digitalbooks.io.

  • Use the phone or apps like FaceTime or Skype to stay connected with friends or family or to start an online book club.
